Ground Zero
The Dutch of the “Plat Pays” developed a flat urbanism as they were familiar with, based on the reclaiming of land from the sea in opposition to the Mediterranean urbanism, always strategically installing their cities on top of the hills. The Brazilian northeast was not a unique case in the Dutch conquests of the East Atlantic; Nieuw Holland (Reecife) in the South of Ecuador had, among others, the same origins as Nieuw Amsterdam, located on the island of Man Hatta (Manhatten).
